About the Symposium

The NDLI-UNESCO International Symposium on Knowledge Engineering for Digital Library Design 2019 is second in the series of knowledge sharing events coordinated by National Digital Library of India. The primary objective of this series has been sharing of technical, policy, administration related knowledge pertaining to digital library design. The first symposium of this series was held in October 2017(www.iconf.ndl.iitkgp.ac.in) with a central theme of collaboration among the digital libraries around the world. More than 30 speakers of international repute have deliberated on different aspects of digital library design. Different deliberations and sessions converged to a crystalized thought: “Openness is the key to mutual growth and sustenance”. This very thought has naturally become the theme of the second version of the symposium: “Smart and Open Technologies for Digital Library”.

This symposium will focus on technologies and strategies for nurturing open culture in the realm of digital library. The program will include keynote talks, panel discussions and hands-on tutorial sessions on state-of-art technologies and strategies.
